SPACE TIME TUNING MACHINE

2021 · sound, space, systems

An instrument can begin with noise and let the performer carve toward resonance, melody, and silence.

Instead of producing sound from silence, the machine begins with an unstable field and removes, filters, and tunes it through bodily action. Physical gestures become parameters inside a responsive digital patch, allowing performer, material resistance, room, and signal to affect one another in real time. Developed as a performance and installation about exile and acoustic memory, the work precedes the software-based memory and listening systems that followed it.
